![]() The stench of the place has reached to heaven and God has sent us to destroy it.”ġ4 So Lot rushed out to tell his daughters’ fiancés, “Quick, get out of the city, for the Lord is going to destroy it.” But the young men looked at him as though he had lost his senses.ġ5 At dawn the next morning the angels became urgent. ![]() 13 For we will destroy the city completely. “Get them out of this place-sons-in-law, sons, daughters, or anyone else. “Who do you think you are? We let this fellow settle among us and now he tries to tell us what to do! We’ll deal with you far worse than with those other men.” And they lunged at Lot and began breaking down the door.ġ0 But the two men reached out and pulled Lot in and bolted the door 11 and temporarily blinded the men of Sodom so that they couldn’t find the door.ġ2 “What relatives do you have here in the city?” the men asked. But leave these men alone, for they are under my protection.”ĩ “Stand back,” they yelled. 8 Look-I have two virgin daughters, and I’ll surrender them to you to do with as you wish. 7 “Please, fellows,” he begged, “don’t do such a wicked thing. After the meal, 4 as they were preparing to retire for the night, the men of the city-yes, Sodomites, young and old from all over the city-surrounded the house 5 and shouted to Lot, “Bring out those men to us so we can rape them.”Ħ Lot stepped outside to talk to them, shutting the door behind him. “Oh, no thanks,” they said, “we’ll just stretch out here along the street.”ģ But he was very urgent, until at last they went home with him, and he set a great feast before them, complete with freshly baked unleavened bread. ![]() When he saw them he stood up to meet them, and welcomed them.Ģ “Sirs,” he said, “come to my home as my guests for the night you can get up as early as you like and be on your way again.” The greatest thing we can learn from the holy angels is their instant, unquestioning obedience to God’s commands.19 That evening the two angels came to the entrance of the city of Sodom, and Lot was sitting there as they arrived. Humans are primarily physical beings, but with a spiritual aspect. Angels are spiritual beings that can, to a certain degree, take on physical form. The Bible nowhere states that angels are created in the image and likeness of God, as humans are (Genesis 1:26). God created the angels, just as He created humanity. Angels will never become, and never were, human beings. Human beings do not become angels after they die. They care for the righteous at the time of death (Luke 16:22).Īngels are an entirely different order of being than humans. They encourage in times of danger (Acts 27:23-24). They observe Christian order, work, and suffering (1 Corinthians 4:9 11:10 Ephesians 3:10 1 Peter 1:12). ![]() They aid in winning people to Christ (Acts 8:26 10:3). They bring answers to prayer (Acts 12:5-10). They are instruments of God’s judgments (Revelation 7:1 8:2). They serve God (Psalm 103:20 Revelation 22:9). They rejoice in what God does (Job 38:6-7). They worship God (Hebrews 1:6 Revelation 5:8-13). They praise God (Psalm 148:1-2 Isaiah 6:3). Here are some activities the Bible ascribes to angels: Good angels are sent by God to help believers (Hebrews 1:14). Though they have wills, angels, like all creatures, are subject to the will of God. Therefore, they know how others have acted and reacted in situations and can predict with a greater degree of accuracy how we may act in similar circumstances. ![]() Unlike humans, angels do not have to study the past they have experienced it. Third, angels gain knowledge through long observation of human activities. Second, angels study the Bible and the world more thoroughly than humans do and gain knowledge from it (James 2:19 Revelation 12:12). Therefore, they innately possess greater knowledge. First, angels were created as an order of creatures higher than humans. They do seem to have greater knowledge than humans, however, which may be due to three things. This means they do not know all things as God does (Matthew 24:36). Because they are created beings, their knowledge is limited. ![]()
